About Elev8
Elev8 is a boutique education programme in Tokyo that transforms school holidays into meaningful learning experiences for children aged 5–12.
Rather than traditional classroom-style camps, Elev8 focuses on small-group mentoring, creativity, and real-world skills. Our programmes combine academic learning with games, activities, and hands-on projects that help children build confidence while exploring new subjects. We welcome both international and Japanese students and are taught in a bilingual environment.
Students choose two learning modules per week:
-
Programming
-
Mathematics
-
English
-
Japanese Language & Culture
Each day blends structured learning with games, outdoor time, and city adventures.
What makes Elev8 unique is our boutique 5:1 maximum student-to-teacher ratio. Groups are typically 3–5 students, which means the role feels much closer to mentoring or tutoring than traditional classroom teaching.
The Role
We are looking for energetic, reliable mentors to join the Elev8 team during our school holiday programmes.
At Elev8, the role is not just about teaching — it’s about creating a fun, safe, and engaging environment where children feel confident exploring new ideas. Mentors guide small groups through learning sessions, lead activities, and support students throughout the day as they learn, play, and explore Tokyo together.
Teachers may specialise in one or two of the following subjects:
-
Mathematics
-
Programming / Coding
-
English
-
Japanese Language
You only need to be comfortable teaching one or two subjects. All lesson plans, curriculum, and materials are provided.
The role is active and involves spending time outdoors, accompanying students on excursions, and walking around Tokyo during activities.
What the Role Looks Like
A typical day at Elev8 combines learning with activities and social time.
Students spend around 4 hours in structured learning sessions, broken into shorter blocks designed to keep things engaging and interactive.
The rest of the day includes:
-
Games and team activities
-
Outdoor time in nearby parks
-
Lunch and social time
-
Creative projects and collaboration
-
Occasional excursions or special activities around Tokyo
Our goal is to create an environment where children feel like they are learning naturally while having fun.
Excursions & City Activities
Elev8 regularly runs excursions and special activity days where students explore different parts of Tokyo.
Examples include:
-
Outdoor adventure parks and activity centres
-
Theme parks and attractions
-
Swimming pools and water parks
-
Nature hikes and city exploration
Mentors help supervise and participate in these activities, supporting students throughout the day and ensuring everyone has a great experience.
Chaperone Service
Elev8 offers a chaperone service from major Tokyo stations.
Some instructors assist with accompanying small groups of children between the school and stations such as Shibuya, Shinjuku, Yokohama, and Tokyo Station.
This means mentors should feel comfortable:
-
Navigating busy stations and trains
-
Managing small groups of children in public spaces
-
Maintaining safety and organisation while travelling
The chaperone service is a valued part of our programme and helps many working families participate in the camp.
