We’re thrilled to introduce Mia, one of Elev8’s newest and most inspiring team members. As a multilingual educator, English teacher, and passionate communicator, Mia brings a rare blend of cultural awareness, empathy, and purpose to the Elev8 classroom.
A Multilingual Background That Shapes Her Mission

Born in Yamagata, Japan, Mia is half Japanese, quarter Peruvian, and quarter Brazilian. She speaks four languages, and that multilingual upbringing gave her a clear view of how powerful language can be, not just as a communication tool, but as a bridge between people, ideas, and identities.
Her teaching philosophy centres around the idea that self-expression is essential to learning. She sees language not just as something to memorise but as something to empower each learner to be more confident, curious, and connected.
“I believe in teaching students English as a way to allow them to express themselves clearly in their academic and personal setting,” says Mia.
Empowering Confidence Through English
Mia takes a calm, student-first approach to the classroom. Whether her students are shy, energetic, or anywhere in between, her goal is to help them discover the confidence to share ideas and hold meaningful conversations.
She incorporates open-ended activities, structured reflection, and personalised guidance to help students not only speak English, but understand their own perspectives and express them thoughtfully.
What Will Mia Be Doing at Elev8?
This summer, Mia will be leading our English programme and also supporting some mathematics activities. Her core focus will be helping students grow as communicators through conversation, writing, and collaborative projects.
She’ll also bring her multilingual lens to help international and bilingual students feel seen, heard, and understood in the classroom.

Why Students Love Her
Mia’s warmth, global background, and calm energy make her a favourite from the start. She helps students reflect deeply, think critically, and express themselves with purpose—skills that go far beyond the classroom.
“I want students to see English not as a subject, but as a way to express who they are, both in school and in life.”
